Description

Bee With Flower Vest – Encaustic painting is an ancient technique, dating back to the Greeks. Encaustic is a Greek word meaning “to heat or burn in” (enkaustikos). Heat is used throughout the process, from melting the beeswax and resin to fusing the layers of wax. Encaustic medium consists of natural beeswax and dammar resin (crystallized tree sap). The encaustic process refers to techniques that use beeswax and damar resin as a medium to create paintings or mixed media photography, giving the image an intriguing surface and density.

Tips: The wax and resin will not melt unless exposed to temperatures over 150 degrees Fahrenheit. They are also sensitive to freezing cold temperatures. To maintain, simply rub the surface with a soft cloth or nylon stocking periodically to restore.

Hardwood Panel is 5 inches x 6.25 inches approximately. Stand not included.
